Matadome

Matador Gymnasium is a 1,600-seat multi-purpose arena in Northridge, California. It is nicknamed the Matadome, and it is housed inside of Redwood Hall. It is home to the Cal State Northridge Matadors basketball and volleyball teams, as well as hosting numerous kinesiology classes and intramurals. It was completed in 1962. Before the Matadome opened, the CSUN basketball team played their home games at nearby Granada Hills High School. The Matadome hosted the 2001 Big Sky Conference men's basketball tournament.

Prior to the Northridge Earthquake in 1994, the Matadome had a capacity of over 3,000. The attendance record for the arena was 3,106, for a U.S. men's volleyball National Team match prior to the earthquake. Following the quake, the upper section seats were removed to create more classroom space, and walls were put up to separate the Matadome from the new classrooms.

The south side of the Matadome consists of bleachers in general admission format. The north side is designated for assigned seating with stadium-style seats, though this is sparsely enforced.

The Matadome was used as a setting in the films The Karate Kid (1984) and Van Wilder (2002).

Redwood Hall and the Matadome have a flat roof, and thus do not actually qualify as a dome.
