Matěj Kůs

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Matěj Kůs is a Czech motorcycle speedway rider best known for waking up after a speedway accident with a sudden and unexplained knowledge of English, a very rare phenomenon known as xenoglossy.

Kůs was racing motorcycles for his team, the Berwick Bandits, when a crash left him unconscious for 45 minutes. When he awoke, paramedics reported that he spoke perfect English, without an accent, and was suffering from amnesia. As Kůs had just begun to study the English language, his team members were shocked to hear him speaking the language perfectly. Shortly after, however, he lost both his knowledge of English and his memory of the two days that followed the accident.
