[edit] Thanks!

[edit] Sock-puppet

Laurence Boyce is a sock-puppet of Richard Dawkins. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.41.51.240 (talk) 10:35, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

IP numbers should be checked. Both are interested in the same subjects, such as flying tea-pots and Dawkins' books. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.41.51.240 (talk) 13:53, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

Sorry if I butt in, but just because they are interested in the same subjects does not mean that they are sockpuppets. Midorihana(talk)(contribs) 07:08, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
Midorihana seems to have over-looked IP numbers, already mentioned. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.74.1.47 (talk) 15:34, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:FishingATITD.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:FishingATITD.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 20:13, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Erasing edits

"WARNING: The database has been locked for maintenance, so you will not be able to save your edits right now. You may wish to copy-and-paste the text into a text file and save it for later."

Hehh.. You mean Erasure don't you? As in leaving NO evidence of your indiscretions. Ehh Master of Puppets.. ..dontcha have to get special permission from Wiki to do that? I have done nothing wrong, -you- have. It's called censorship, and having your own higher than thou opinion as opposed to all the other contributors which you have enjoyed the power to edit and delete at your own discretion. If Wiki has any sense at all they will revoke your charter, for promoting your own POV at the embarrassement to wikipedia.

Cheers..

"Below is a list of recent deletions and restorations.

If a page you created or a file you uploaded has been deleted, and you wish to know why, see Wikipedia:Why was my page deleted?. Logs User: Title:

No matching items in log."

Hehh, so where is my deleted text? It doesn't exist. WHY? Quite simple really. Posts to the article that are deleted don't get recorded. Probably the ONLY erasure power the Administrators have that they can do without question or hesitation. Everything I posted to the article I first posted to the discussion page, I'm sorry you missed it. There was NO questions raised concerning it not even your own so I contributed it. You jumped the gun without even looking for evidence of your assertions. I'm right yer in the wrong, I have no regrets concerning it. But apparently YOU at least have reservations.

Cheers..

[edit] Citing Material

If EVERY source of information that ever existed was already written in books previous. Then what would be the reason for creating Wikipedia? You insist on cited material, all the while denying the purpose of Wikipedia. Apparently you don't have a clue as to what is meant by "original".

Think about it, and maybe grow from the knowledge of others. Look beyond your own inflated ego, if just for a moment. I think you are probably a nice guy, and are simply acting out of ignorance.

Cheers..

[edit] Invitation for dialogue

I invite any and all comers to dialogue any misconceptions. I find it both awkward and amusing that NOBODY has bothered to do so! Communication is a two way street.

I wish to thank Master of Puppets for creating a TALK file for me, as of yet I have not heard any reply from him. Not even a grunt or a whisper.. ..on that or ANY page in wikipedia.

Cheers.. 12.5.63.8 18:53, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

I can forgive the past, but I know NOTHING about
the future of wikipedia OR my relationship to them.
Cheers.. 12.5.63.8 18:59, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
Like I said, I think yer probably a nice guy, sorry we got off on the wrong foot. I hope you learned something from the experience. I know I did.

There is a final reply to you on my discussion page. Please read it. Thanks.. 12.5.63.8 14:56, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Help

If you really wanna help, tell me how to contact Wiki proper, I've seen so many pages pointing to other pages, I'm beginning to wonder exactly who runs what? No I don't wanna talk about -you- I wanna apply for a job as a policeman and find other people who present thier own POV instead of allowing FREEdom of speech to resolve by it's own self. Whether out of ignorance or on purpose such things need to be resolved in order for both the TRUTH to be heard, and for wikipedia to get what it stands for. It has always been my firm commitment, that a people that does not police themselves gets what they deserve. Let Democracy "for the people, and by the people" prevail.

Cheers..

12.5.63.8 19:16, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

So your only contribution is to delete stuff you don't like, not even adding anything worthwhile at all. Yer a cheap cheat is all.. ..and a distraction from the truth. 12.5.63.8 14:03, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] 12.5.63.8

It was a pleasure to meet you, keep up the good work. 12.5.63.8 14:08, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

BTW I read your page, and I would like to say. We are all sons and daughters of God, some do not act like it, and it's the POV that makes us all different in regards to our religious beliefs. We ALL agree on

the ONE God above all others, it's only the minor personal differences that set us apart.

Cheers.. 12.5.63.8 14:18, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Bah!

He's already hit me with the cryptic comments too. He thinks that you asked me to revert his talk page. Okay, I think the best thing to do is just ignore him from now on ([[WP:TROLL] etc). I've left a comment on his talk page asking him to stay out of trouble and offering assistance. If he refuses to conform to that little piece of advice then it's time to take it to an administrator. Take care! ScarianTalk 18:29, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] 3 warnings?

Three warnings for one edit? I have already apologized and promised not to make test edits anywhere besides the sandbox. Isn't that enough? 74.133.9.95 03:50, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

I was the last editor. I was making a test edit to show my friend that anyone can edit a wiki. I have had dealings with KnowledgeOfSelf in the past, and did not think he would mind my test edit. You were the third person to warn me for that one edit. That is all I am trying to say. Sorry if I am being confusing to you. 74.133.9.95 03:58, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
I see now. That is because there is nothing to revert back to. I already reverted myself, to the revision before my test edit. You see? 74.133.9.95 04:07, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

If you are worried, then go ahead and alert the administrators. I have already cleared the page through them. I am complying, all you are doing.. .. nah I won't give you the priviledge. Just who do you think you are dealing with here?

Cheers..

[edit] Snape and Sorting.

"I removed your edit about Snape 'belonging' in Gryffindor; I think that Rowling left this open to interpretation, as up until then we had seen no sign of Snape disliking his house. Thoughts? Leave 'em on my talk page. Cheers, Master of Puppets Care to share? 23:23, 5 December 2007 (UTC)"

I think you misunderstood what i wrote, friend. Or i miswrote it. But i meant that Dumbledoor's statement, "I think maybe we sort to soon", was that it was possible that, given time, Snape might have been apart of Gryffindor, because of his recently shown bravery. I didn't say he belonged there. Although i probably misworded it. You understand what i meant, right? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.209.210.238 (talkcontribs) 21:18, 5 December 2007

[edit] RFC on Bruce1333

Thanks for the heads-up. I've watchlisted the RFC page. I'll wait to see what you put up before commenting. Philip Trueman (talk) 18:02, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

I do appear to have screwed up the numbers on the "Users certifying the basis for this dispute" section. I noticed before I commented it was 1./2. etc. and then when I put the hash it went 1./2./1. - which confused me. So instead of trying to figure it out I just put 3. before my comment. And now I notice that it goes 1./1./3. - which is just plain odd. Any ideas on how to fix that one? ScarianTalk 11:29, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
Oh, no worries. Kablammo fixed it! Cheers. ScarianTalk 13:46, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Recent MfD nominations

Hi Master of Puppets,

I may not need to tell you this seeing as how you're getting it on all sides at MfD, but your recent nominations of new user pages are fairly bitey. I'm not here to tell you to withdraw them or anything, but given that WP:UP provides editors with a fair bit of wiggle room for what they do on their user pages, I'd suggest you try starting a dialogue with {{uw-userpage}} or a personal note in the future. Or hey, try simply welcoming them and see if that doesn't open up the lines of communication a bit.

After all, given the relatively personal nature of userpages--particularly if you're brand new to Wikipedia--an MfD notice right after you start one is pretty much the polar opposite of a friendly greeting. --jonny-mt 08:46, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

This is in response to the comment on my talk page. No, I think the community at large should decide, not just me. It won't bother me at all if its deleted now, as long as the consensus is to do so. And sorry for accusing you of biting, but I think it might've been better for you to notify him of certain policies and wait and see what his response would be. ~Sasha Callahan (Talk) 16:38, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sandbox

How does one vandalize a sandbox ? Gee the collective IQ of wannabe admins on wikipedia has gone down considerably. Even the great Essjay would never warn about "vandalizing" a sandbox. 12.171.163.20 (talk) 23:35, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

Chose your words wisely then, my child. And no that isn't a personal attack. 16 yr old = child. Sure you may be a little filthy little agnostic, you're still a kid. And you'll never be an admin. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.171.163.20 (talk) 23:41, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] DJ verbal d

now genuinely, who would want to remove the page of the Verbal D himself? Do you live in Southampton? No, so then you don't know what a legend he is! How could you do this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Davidjupp (talkcontribs) 00:25, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] DJ Verbal D

Too right I damn well want to contest this! DJ Verbal D is a HUGE DJ in Southampton, he fully deserves a wikipedia, even if he doesnt have a website! What is wrong, whats the use in just stalking all over wikipedia just to act some kind of fun police? no one is going to ever reward you for it! If you wouldnt mind now please remove the speedy deletion tag because this is fully justified and I have no qualms in taking this all the way to the top. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Davidjupp (talkcontribs) 00:33, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

G'day, MoP. Just a courtesy note, that I have closed the above-linked MfD. You can check out the result and further information at that discussion. With regards to expressed biting concerns, I'd just like to express my personal opinion that it was not your intention in starting this MfD to cause upset to this user: as you stated, you are new to MfD (and just back from a lengthy WikiBreak, to boot) and coming across as a little harsh on an often-seen problem is an easy mistake to make. [edit] Lupin's tool

Hi,

I'm experiencing the same problem. However it must be said that the usual words are actually what triggers the tools. It's just that it tells us otherwise ;-) Currently I'm using the popups to preview every single diff from the tool :( Since there are no edits to the tool itself since August, and there has been one today to the Badword list, I've reverted it to see what happens but the problem was still present - so I reverted my revert, however I think that that edit could be the problem (as I have no other idea of what could be). I've reported it on IRC, but without positive results. I didn't though to report it to Lupin, it's a good idea. When I reported it on IRC, I made a screenshot, available here, so if it may be useful in reporting, feel free to use it. Snowolf How can I help? 20:19, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] "Speedy deletion of 90/10 law (social theory)"

I was wondering what prompted you to delete my stub of the "90/10 law". It was meant in no way as a joke (and I cannot imagine any way in which it would be). I would refer to what I wrote to prove it, but you have already deleted it. I believe I had under 60 seconds before it was deleted, which seemed a bit short when one is attempting to use a very slow internet connection (effectively rendering it impossible to participate on the level expected to negate unnecessary deletion).

Just to let you know, when you placed the Speedy delete tag on the page, it was after it had already been deleted by an administrator then recreated by the user. Just wanted to make sure you understood the situation. ;) Guldenat (talk) 07:33, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

Are you talking to me, or is there another context I am not getting?
-Generaleskimo (talk) 07:39, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
I was just letting this gentleman know that the person in question was a repeat offender. And no MoP, you have interupted no plans for my part. Guldenat (talk) 03:47, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thank you!

Hey there! Just a quick note to say "thanks very much" for your support on my recent, successful RfA. I appreciate your support and the kind words, and I'm glad that my attempts at mediation on hot topics has made an impression with people. I'll be doing my best to use the tools wisely and for the betterment of the encyclopedia. Thanks again! Tony Fox (arf!) 05:49, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Lee M. Hollander

You just deleted the Lee M. Hollander page I had just finished creating. Without any time for rebuttle, you deleted my article. Lee M. Hollander was a published author with the University of Texas Press, who was an authority on Nordic language and literature. Please revert the page, thank you!! [edit] Warbook

I recently noticed that the Warbook page is under consideration for deletion.

First of all I would like to say that I am a warbook player, but have not participated in the creation of wikipedia's warbook page.

I just figured you might be interested to know that many, many warbook players use the wikipedia page as their only source of information on warbook. Myself included. I cannot think of a better reason to leave an article available other than the fact that people wish to view it and make use of its contents. I know that I will be personally saddened if this page is actually deleted.

Thank you for listening.

[edit] Thanks

Thanks for the suggestion and espicially the compliment. The compliment meant a lot to me because I was just in a conflict with another user about putting a speedy deletion tag on their article--one that claims to have been on wikipedia for five years. I'll look at twinkle. Thanks again! Kannie | talk 21:00, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

Would you be so kind as to tell me how to install twinkle? Kannie | talk 21:02, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
I tried all of that and nothing has happened. I use the 'simple' skin, and I see no new tabs. Kannie | talk 21:09, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
No, I use an older version of Mozilla Firefox. Kannie | talk 21:12, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

That didn't work. Sorry. It seems that I'm stuck doing it the old-school way, unless you know someone who can help? --Kannie | talk 21:26, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

LOL, sorry, I threw that out so quickly that I didn't take time to think how that sounded. Of course, that's not what I meant at all. Besides, you're an accomplished vandal-fighter, while I butcher things [like this], where I reverted you while trying to restore the LGV. [edit] Asian Paints AFD

I appreciate your enthusiasm in clearing copyvios off Wikipedia, [1], but it would help if you do look at the page history before speedying it. As per our policy on copy violations, we do not delete the entire article off the face of wikipedia, we only delete the copy violations. Due to the ever changing nature of Wikipedia, copy violations may be added at some point of time by an anon. It would be counter productive to delete an article just because one version was a copyvio. In the future, please do check an article history before declaring it to be a speedy. Thanks! =Nichalp «Talk»= 08:37, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

Thanks! You are welcome to "butt in" any time. You are boosting me on the learning curve. I am aware of the 3RR, but in this case didn't think it applied. Seven times in a month or so is, after all, a lot less intense than thrice in 24 hours. I'll keep the /3RR board in mind for future situations. Cheers to you. Thanks for the Christmas wishes. Yes it seems as though my foray into that big room with the blue sky and the green carpeting was successful. With all of my schoolwork, I find it hard to find time to get back into editing Wikipedia [or seeing everything that's happened and changed since I stopped being active.] Hope all is going well. — Ilyanep (Talk) 18:03, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

The way I see it, it's two more years working my butt off so that I can go to university and work my butt off for four more years, in order to get into a good graduate program, work my butt off for a few more years, and then get a good job where I work my butt off for countless decades more ;) — Ilyanep (Talk) 18:49, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
Oh yes, and by then Wikipedia will be a nice brain-implant that will let us reference things whenever we want to :) — Ilyanep (Talk) 19:17, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

I have nominated Vibroweapon, an article you created, for deletion. [edit] Re: Opeth Myspace

MySpace is an official site from the band, most other sites are not official even if they claim to be. See WP:EL, although it doesn't say anything about band external links it might give an understanding. If you look at some featured articles the only sites they have are the official and the Myspace. EX: Godsmack, Megadeth, Slayer. Burningclean [Speak the truth!] 21:45, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

Dude, the Facebook page IS official, go to Opeth's site and you will find the link there!!!!! Maged M. Mahfouz (talk) 21:49, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

I see what you are saying. If the site is run by the band or label it should probably be alright. You should probably archive this page, it is hard to load and it gets confused when you try to leave a message Burningclean [Speak the truth!] 21:54, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
If you want to add it you can. That was a funny message you left. Do you know who to archive properly? If not I will do it for you. Burningclean [Speak the truth!] 21:59, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
Okay, nevermind I see you have tons of archives, lol! Burningclean [Speak the truth!] 22:00, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
