- It has greater significance than it first appears, because it defines two one of the major organizations of the art, both of which are headed by MOTTs. Compare Datu, which has broader cultural significance but similar martial significance. Also, "What is a MOTT?" is a very common question. JJL 05:39, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

- Repeating this, the term is used by prominent members of multiple Modern Arnis organizations (IMAF-Schea, IMAF-Delaney, and DAV, and possibly the IMAFP) and recognized by the others. The two IMAF groups are headed by MOTTs. As Modern Arnis is the most prominent and wide practiced Filipino martial art in the world--taught in the Philippines public school system--it is of some interest as it defines the inheritors of the founder's organization.
