[edit] North-South?

Why does Mass. Route 127 have its signs posted as a North-South highway when it really is an East-West highway? To be more precise, it's an ENE-WSW highway, which is closest to East-West. I know that the parallel Route 128 is labeled as "North-South" in the same towns, but MA-127 only goes from Beverly to Rockport. This particular route is the one exception that I've seen in the rules of route numbering. I've had people get lost before because someone gave directions as "go east down Route 127" when, to be consistent with the signage, they should have said "go north down Route 127." The Commonwealth in its infinite wisdom. --24.147.169.135 05:11, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
