Talk:Mass (Bernstein)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I took part in a live performance of Mass many years ago, and I'm certain that the last words "The Mass is ended: go in peace" are actually heard over pre-recorded tape: they are not spoken live by the Celebrant. Feel free to correct if anyone has an authoritative source. Grover cleveland 20:53, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
- Huh. I took part in a live performance as well, 1988 at Tanglewood, and I'm certain that the Celebrant spoke it live. However, our production didn't have an "altar server" either. Perhaps it varies depending on production? NerwenGreen 05:42, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

- I'd have to go look, but I'm pretty sure that the booklet of the recording from a couple years ago (on Harmonia Mundi) mentions that it's pre-recorded, and IIRC is Bernstein himself. ♫ Melodia Chaconne ♫ 11:41, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

- (Ok, two months later I look)....it just says those final words are "on tape", so yeah. ♫ Melodia Chaconne ♫ 12:12, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

Shouldn't this more properly be Mass (Bernstein)? Other masses are dab'd by composer's name.... — MusicMaker5376 17:16, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
