What was the work of Phelps Dodge in Masbeth? Presumably not mining. Did it do recycling, as Nassau Smelting and Refining did in Tottenville? Jim.henderson 16:36, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Newtown Creek
How about some discussion about the proper title for the Newtown Creek picture? The revert war is getting a little silly. I don't know which is correct, but could we get some points of view on this, especially from the two editors that are going back and forth? I think we can get some resolution on this. Thanks! --Anietor (talk) 18:40, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
- I bicycled upstream along the right bank of Newtown Creek, and turned left at the confluence of Masbeth Creek. At the head of the modern canalized Masbeth Creek, where it issues from a culvert, I turned right and found a good place to look west, down the length of Masbeth Creek towards the confluence. Due to a turn before the confluence, the picture doesn't show the mouth, thus does not show any of the actual Newtown Creek, just this tributary. A few minutes later I took another picture from the left bank of Masbeth Creek towards the culvert, but it wasn't as good as this one.
- I have previously taken and uploaded pictures of Newtown Creek and its other surviving canalized tributaries, namely Whale Creek, Dutch Kills and English Kills. I also labelled them correctly and put them into appropriate articles. Fortunately, no anonymous vandal has decided to mislabel them. Just this one. Jim.henderson (talk) 00:29, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
