When Mastan was in the 7th grade living in Andra Pradesh, he had a senior school mate, Uday Bhaskar, who attempted Everest. When Uday was close to the peak at about 26,000 ft, an avalanche started and he died. Mastan decided to finish what his fellow senior started. Carrying a picture of Uday with him, Mastan climbed Kilimanjaro on Wednesday, March 15, 2006. Kosciuzsko, Australia on April 10, Saturday. After these 2 in preparation, Mastan climbed Everest, and then decided that if he climbed Everest, why not the other 6? His friends saved up $70,000 which was put toward the trip which was in total $ 100,000 .
