Massive Assault is a turn-based hexagonal computer wargame by Wargaming.net. Among its features are: advanced 3D graphics combined with classical wargame hex-turn-based approach; extremely simple rules (even simpler than those of Wesnoth) and a limited set of highly balanced units. Especially interesting is the game's original idea of so called "secret allies", the disclosure of which can drastically affect the course of a game.

[edit] Playable sides
Like most RTS games were there are two main opposing figures- with one being a heroic figure while the other is terrorist-like. Unlike in most RTS games, units of both sides are equal and neither has an advantage with any specific unit type. Though technically from certain outlook both sides are a near exact copy both sides players find themselves using different styles of combat against each other.[citation needed]
[edit] The Free Nations Union
Comparable to the United Nations, NATO;the storyline places the FNU forces mainly in a defensive position in most missions at first until the near were they rebound to a stunning victory over the Phantom League.
[edit] The Phantom League
The League is most like Nazis of World War Two, Soviet Union during the Cold War, or even the terrorist organization Al'Quaida. The storyline portrays the Phantom League as selective group of military organizations and corporations that work in secret through assassinations, blackmailing, and other means.
[edit] Planets, Countries, and Alliances
Between six geographical planes for the two waring nations varying form the frozen landscape of Antarticus to the lands of New Paradise. The Free Nations League and Phantom League both fight for control discreetly with allied countries on every planet.
There are least ten countries on every map with at least four each allies of the two parties. Countries are divided up into three categories; Undisclosed Ally (Secrete Ally), Disclosed Ally, True Neutral. Since both sides do disclose all their allies at once, many players find difficult to decide were to place troops at any time as a neutral one moment may be base of operations for any enemy force just in place to attack at a moments notice.
[edit] Units
[edit] Land Units
Light Armored Vehicles
- FNU- LAV
- PL - Smallfoot
Being the smallest and weakest unit that is wielded on the Battlefield, players find that LAVs cheap and thanks to the games mechanics they are great for defensive or even offensive operations when en masse.[1]
Armored Fighting Vehicles
- FNU- Tank
- PL - Bio-T
Being a common sight on the battlefield since World War One, tanks have been the mainstay of armies since compared to other mobile units, they have capability to give enough force to quickly remove enemy units and to stave off attacks until reinforcements have arrived.[2]
Heavy Assault Vehicles
- FNU- Heavy Bot
- PL - Ostrich
A recent addition to the battlefield; these machines were originally designed to replace tanks as the main force of armies, but due to cost of each Unit, it's too much to afford in large numbers.. A pair or even single HAV combined with LAVs or Tanks is a pontent force to contend with.[3] pg. 29
Mobile Artillery
- FNU- Mortar
- PL - Scorcher
With artillery being cheaper than MMPs they do half the damage also, but provides a mid-range support unit half the price worth the price as players are able to field them in numbers.[4]
Mobile Missile Platform
- FNU- Rocket
- PL - Annihilator
These Gigantic war machines move ponderously but is capable of delivering a devastating attack upon an enemy unit. In return for such a powerful attack MMPs are weak defensively and if any enemy unit get close the MMP is usually doomed.[5]
Land Transport
- FNU- Land Transport
- PL - UPS
Able to carry two other land units and also being able to farther than other land based unit in the game gives the land transport a niche in were slow moving units are capable of keeping with quick moving units then be unload as needed.[6]
Defensive Towers
- FNU- Guard Tower
- PL - Death turret
Capable of taking more punishment than other unit in the game, being able to take two attacks form MMPs and still being to attack afterward attest to the ability to hold positions like in narrow valleys were the enemy cannot bring their full force against it. When two towers are working in conjunction they are capable of tuning any territory in a stronghold when combined with other units.[7]
[edit] Naval Units
Transport
- FNU- Naval Transport
- PL - Turtle
Serve to carry land forces form shore to shore have capcity to carry four unit or if with conjunction with Land transports a total of eight possible. Transport are the only means of land units being abe to cross bodies of water[8]
Amphibious Assault Vehicles
- FNU- Amphibian
- PL - Triton
These versatile vehicles can move equally at land and sea, making them effective in combat especially when creating a beachhead in enemy territory, or on flanking maneuvers. Though not recommended in direct combat as these machines are complicated and fragile and are capable of being destroyed quite easily.[9]
Destroyers
- FNU- Destroyer
- PL - Killer Whale
The most inexpensive naval combat unit, with in most aspects being the naval equivalent of the LAV. being used in the same fashion in protection of Battleships and Carriers alike.[10]
Batleships
- FNU- Battleship
- PL - Firestorm
The powerful unit in the game except for a fully loaded carrier. Battleships are usually in fire support of land attacks or naval suppority against the enemies fleet.[11]
Aircraft Carriers
- FNU- Carrier
- PL - Pteronest
Except for cities carriers are the only way air units can mobile and still strike at enemy unit that would move out of range if based at a city. Carriers are slower than battleships and must guard by other units since they have no defensive capability.[12]
[edit] Air Units
Tactical Bombers
- FNU- Bomber
- PL - Pteroplane
Besides having the largest attack range compared to any other unit in the game, bombers have only two fatal flaws as they must be based in a city or carrier and if the city is taken by the enemy or if the carrier is destroyed the bombers are also lost. [13]
