Massive Armor Unit
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Massively Armoured Units (MAUs) are mechanised walker units in the MMORPG RF Online. The ability to pilot a MAU is a special race skill unique to the Bellato Union faction. In order for a Bellato player to pilot a MAU, he or she must have reached level 30 and class advanced to the Driver class. While the actual cost of the MAU varies based on the game server's economy, the price hovers around one million Dalant, the faction's race currency. There are two types of MAU available to purchase:
Type | Description |
---|---|
Goliath | MAUs specialised in close ranged combat. They have significantly higher hitpoints and defense than Catapults and can equip boosters for increased movement speed. They can be equipped with the sub-weapon Net Gun which incapacitates enemies, rooting them to the spot. |
Catapult | MAUs specialised in long ranged combat. They have significantly faster attack speed, damage and range than Goliaths. They can also be equipped with the sub-weapon Multi-Missile, which reduces enemy defense and evasion capabilities and causes slight damage. |
[edit] Weaknesses
The potential of a MAU in battle is fearsome. However, there are several disadvantages of piloting a MAU:
- When piloting a MAU, your character does not gain any experience. Instead, characters gain PT points for Unit PT.
- M.A.Us and their upgrades cost a substantial amount of race currency. Furthermore, upgrades require a certain Unit PT level.
- Simply removing the MAU from its default storage incurs a charge.
- MAUs require ammunition/energy in order to attack.
- The low stamina of MAUs makes them very slow without the booster upgrade. On the Catapult variant, the booster is not available prior to level 41.
- The overall strength relative to other classes of MAU riders caps earlier than it does for many other classes in the game.
[edit] Upgrades
When the requirements in level and Unit proficiency or PT have been satisfied, MAUs can be upgraded with various components, including ammunition capacity upgrades, movement speed upgrades, sub-weaponry which affords the MAU greater efficiency in combat, heavier armour and superior main weaponry. At level 40, Drivers may upgrade their class to Armour Riders, allowing them to access the Advanced configurations of the Goliath and Catapult, commonly known as Black MAUs due to their colour. This is abbreviated to BMAU in game lexicon. At level 50, pure Armour Riders gain access to the Red MAU, which is abbreviated to RMAU. This is a simple reskin of the level 40 BMAU with stronger armour and more advanced weaponry.
