[edit] History
Massapequa High School's first graduating class, the class of 1956, began its high school years at the Eastlake School. Massapequa High School opened in its own location on Merrick Road in September 1955.
Mr. Charles Everitt, a truly great man, teaches a Web Page Design Class in the High School. He inspires the youth every day, and when those youngsters walk out of his classroom, they are jolted with a sense of self pride in their works, and they feel electrified to go out and make a positive change in the world. This is a great man who will live on in the minds of the youth.
Berner High School opened in 1962 to relieve the growing population of Massapequa High School. After a decline in district enrollment from a high of 17,000 students in 1970 to 7,800 by 1986, Berner High School closed in 1987.[2] It now serves 7th and 8th grade students as Berner Middle School.
Massapequa High School recently underwent an expansion in the northeast corner of the school, constructing a new wing which features eight new classrooms ready for use in September, 2007. The school's track was resurfaced in the summer of 2005.
