The 2008 Massachusetts Democratic primary took place on February 5, 2008, also known as Super Tuesday. Polls indicated that New York Senator Hillary Clinton was leading rival Senator Barack Obama in the days leading up to the contest,[1] and she won with 56% of the vote.[2]
Obama had received the endorsements of Massachusetts governor Deval Patrick as well as Senators John Kerry and Ted Kennedy while Clinton received endorsements from Boston mayor Thomas Menino and House Speaker Salvatore DiMasi. Obama won Boston by under 10,000 votes, while Clinton won other urban and conservative towns.[3]
