[edit] Appearances
He was portrayed by Jerome Blake in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, David Bowers in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones,[3] and by both Blake and Bowers in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. Principal photography for the final film was conducted in Sydney Australia, and the character's scenes were shot with Bowers. Additional scenes were filmed in England, so rather than fly Bowers to England, Lucas had Blake reprise the role. The character's appearance was done with make-up rather than CGI effects.[4]
An action figure was made of the film version of the character,[5] who also appears in the novelizations of the films.[6]
[edit] Character biography
In The Phantom Menace, he serves as vice-chair of the Galactic Senate, assisting Supreme Chancellor Finis Valorum. He continues to hold this position when Valorum is voted out of office and replaced by Palpatine. Amedda is "among a select few who understand that Palpatine is more than he appears."[7]
Throughout the Star Wars prequel trilogy, he helps Palpatine gradually take complete control of the Republic and eliminate the Jedi. In Attack of the Clones, he leads a call in the Senate to grant Palpatine vast emergency powers; in Revenge of the Sith, he sends out the newly declared Emperor of the galaxy's orders to activate Order 66, instructing the Republic's clone troopers to kill their Jedi generals.
