hello thanks for the useless comment about the use of "incumbent". If you look at the history it was added by another admin user i was just trying to keep what he had put on the page. If you are admin i think you should lock the page and leave it as kevin rudd "incumbent". cheers —Preceding unsigned comment added by L.Wadsworth (talk • contribs) 12:36, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Replaceable fair use Image:Shaun_Micallef_-_Thank_God_You're_Here.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Shaun_Micallef_-_Thank_God_You're_Here.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use media which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Garion96 (talk) 10:06, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Happy Birthday!
It would appear to be your 23rd birthday, either today or yesterday. Assuming I'm right, happy birthday! Ral315 (talk) 05:24, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
- Strangely, I came across it because I visited your userpage, saw that it said you were 22, and thought, "I wonder when his birthday is?". I looked at your userpage history, and was shocked to see that your birthday was today -- I truly had no idea when it was. Ral315 (talk) 05:48, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

- I can neither confirm nor deny these allegations. All further questions should be directed to my publicist. Ral315 (talk) 05:52, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Speedy deletion of Template:Map of Western Australia
A tag has been placed on Template:Map of Western Australia requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.
If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).
Thanks. --MZMcBride (talk) 19:53, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Please
You know, you could explain what was up on the talk page. The stuff you removed was so innocuous I assumed it was a mistake. I'd appreciate if you could just explain what was going on without immediately resorting to threats. Not very civil.—Chowbok ☠ 17:31, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Nancy Cartwright
What specifically did the publicist complain about? Was it just the stuff removed in this edit or does it include the stuff removed here? Some of the content removed in the last edit includes all mentions of scientology, and that part of the article is sourced. -- Scorpion0422 03:39, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

Mark,
I work for Daniel Hannan and he has asked me to update some of the info on his page. I'd give you the Parlaiment email as proof, but as this is a public forum I dont think this would be wise. I'm rather new to this Wki thing and I am not sure how you are meant to get a response to me or how I can send you a private message with the email address. Either way, I need access and would appreciate it if you wrote how we can go about this on your wall. Am I right in understanding, that as of this moment the only persion that can alter stuff on Dan's wall are you and Dan?
Thank you very much for your time.

[edit] Euro precedence on ITN
The Euro is at near all-time highs against currencies other than the dollar, including the pound sterling. Also your rearranged sentence doesn't take account of the fact that the psychological value of €1 > $1.50 has been reached.
I have changed it back for now.
zoney ♣ talk 11:07, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
- I'm inclined to agree, I was surprised that it appeared there. It could even be removed if no-one objected. However, at least it means ITN isn't entirely predictable with what shows up there. There are altogether too many people who think ITN is supposed to be the five most important news stories according to Wikipedia. Of course, the title "In the news" isn't very explanatory. zoney ♣ talk 11:53, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Orlando Figes
Could you please reconsider the indefinite protection of article Orlando Figes? There are less than 100 edits in the history of this article, and I did not see a significant RR war there. [edit] Your edits on the ITN
Please go to Wikipedia:In the news section on the Main Page/Candidates and explain why you added the blurb on Rahho, despite there not being a consensus to put it up. We are trying to avoid drive-by admins, like yourself here, so I propose you take it of the itn, post your comments, and wait till there is a larger consensus. --Plasma Twa 2 (talk) 18:51, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
- Drive-by admin is not my phrase, and remember this is not about how much support it has now, but how much support it had when you first added it. Gaining a strong consensus is what keeps us from having huge arguements over items - it doesn't seem that there will be one over this one now, but that does not mean it should be ignored. There have been many arguements over why a majority-supported article isn't on, and vice versa. It common sense to wait more then six hours to put something up.
- Your "courtesy extended to the non-admins to express their views" statement pretty much makes you a hypocrite. Telling me not to express authority when you're cleary doing it right now? Rich. The item has enough support to go on now, but two other users agreed with me that you added it too quickly, while another commented on you adding it up despite consensus. I don't want blood to be exchanged over this, but remember to wait until there is a larger consensus to avoid this in the future. --Plasma Twa 2 (talk) 07:04, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

--Gatoclass (talk) 08:56, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[edit] Um, so what do you think I did?
You state quite strongly that you are shocked by my misjudgment. Could you please go into more detail what you feel I have misjudged? That might be quite useful if I might want to prevent such shock in future. --Kim Bruning (talk) 03:19, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
- <scratches head> Maybe I don't think in such complicated ways with respect to security. If we see someone breach confidentiality, I think it is only prudent that we remove access to privileged information.
- As we are all volunteers, we share collective responsibility.
- From my perspective, we are already closing the barn door when the horse has already bolted, but still it is a wise gesture to make.
- To stretch the metaphor slightly: are you advocating we leave all other barn doors open until those horses have escaped too?
- --Kim Bruning (talk) 06:46, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
- Just to expand on that slightly: I think that the fundamental requirement for the channel is that people need to be able to handle privileged information responsibly, as it is intended as a location for foundation and OTRS and etc to communicate with trusted people from en.wikipedia. This is also why it is a closed channel you see. It's not a clubhouse for admins, or at least it was never intended to be. --Kim Bruning (talk) 07:08, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

Can't you find some sources for them though? If you care about the articles you could, you know they all exist, and deleting ones such as Sally, Alf, and other long term characters is just pointless when poeple have gone to the trouble of writing them. Raintheone (talk) 18:49, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

My name is Peter and you asked me on the 1st of April why i change the number of seasons from 21 to 20. To do this because home and away started in 1988. Since it is 2008 (20 years later) is has got to be on its 20th season. Also the website on www.seven.com.au/homeandaway says "celebreating the 20th year of home and away" if i am mistaken please tell me thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.229.192.93 (talk) 11:26, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:05494 HK2731 122 420lo.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:05494 HK2731 122 420lo.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. The following images also have this problem:
- Image:9newsMelbourne.jpg
- Image:7nmen2.jpg

- If I made a mistake uploading the subject image, it was an honest mistake. Focus was a free newspaper distributed in Ottawa in 1984 It also died that same year and exists no more. It would be a reasonable assumption it would fall within the public domain category.

- Thanks for the info. I don't think I'll upload any more images until I consult with the creator of the article, a WikipediA Administrator. I think he is somewhat overwhelmed with the volume of information I provided not yet in the Article and it is best I give him space. He has the experience in these things. I don't.
