[edit] Fansites and Bulletin boards in External links

Hi there. Regarding the Derby County F.C. article: fan sites, message boards and blogs generally aren't acceptable for the External links section of football club articles as per Wikipedia policy (see WP:EL for more details) cheers, --Jameboy 00:09, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I see you are a relatively new user so you are still getting the hang of things. Regarding your edits to Derby County F.C., can I just re-iterate that fan sites, message boards and blogs generally aren't acceptable for the External links section. Have a read of WP:EL to learn more about this. Of course there are always exceptions to every rule, so I would recommend posting a message on the article's talk page in order to put your point across. Your edit was also reverted for grammar - generally in English we use 'an' when the following word starts with a vowel, therefore "Derby County are an English football team" is correct. Good luck with your future Wiki-editing & all the best. --Jameboy 07:35, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
Unfortunately I've had to revert your edit to Derby County F.C. again, as per the reason above. It's worth bearing in mind that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not just a list of links to other websites. As I said, if you think the sites you listed are worthy of inclusion, please state your reasons. Cheers. --Jameboy 23:54, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
It is not a deliberate attempt at vandalism, merely an implementation of Wikipedia policy, but please feel free to report me if you think my actions were unacceptable. However to claim that the sites are "reputable" is inaccurate. I clicked on one at random, Popside, which states on its front page: "This is a satirical site who's postings bear no relation to fact. Do not take anything seriously." Is that a reputable site, suitable for researching or sourcing information? I don't believe so. --Jameboy 14:49, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
