User:Martinp/Userpage deletion
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is my emerging policy on userpage/user subpage deletion, which is appearing more and more on WP:MFD. When I vote (which is not systematic), I sometimes vote Delete and sometimes Keep. Here is why.
[edit] Relevant principles
- WP is not a webhost
- Blatant nonsense, genuine attack, or copyvios should not exist on WP's servers anywhere
balanced by
- WP:AGF
- WP:BITE
- AFD deletes that have even a grain of potential are often userfied and should be left in peace for the user to perhaps eventually improve them to article inclusion status
[edit] Latitude
I give considerable latitude to established WP contributors, and extend that latitude to newbies (including those who have been around for a few months), editors who have made only sporadic or inopportune contribtions, or had "their" articles AFDd, and/or even behaved in an infantile fashion in policy disputes.
I don't give latitude to those who have demonstrated over several months that they have little interest in improving the encyclopedia and who only care about their userpage, especially if they seem to feel that it gives them some notability to do so. This includes spamming or googlebombing.
