Martha Kay Hardcastle Guthrie Born Feb. 11, 1958 in Dayton, Ohio. Lived in Dayton and attended Cornell Heights Elementary School until 1971. Moved to Randolph Township (now the City of Clayton) and graduated from Northmont High School in 1976. Graduated from Sinclair Community College, 1978. Attended the University of Dayton in Communication Arts.

Worked as a model in her teens and early 20s. Worked for Goldenrod Music and National Record Mart, where she was a manager, from 1980-1984. Worked in sales for Harvey Kushner, a dance photographer and Photo Corporation of America, 1984-1988. Also worked in several retail positions. In 1988, she went to work as a staff writer for the Englewood Independent, a weekly newspaper. She went from there to the Piqua Daily Call in 1991 and worked there through early 1993.

Since then, she has worked as a freelance writer and regular contributor for the Dayton Daily News. She is currently developing a sideline business recycling antique silverplate for re-use and also producing barrettes, wind chimes, key hooks and other jewelery. This business is called Eyes of Silver, the name inspired by the Doobie Brothers song of the same name.

Martha is the mother of three sons and is married. She lives in Clayton, Ohio. She is an avid (but not licensed) genealogist and historian. She is an avid follower and chronicler of popular culture, especially music, fashion and literature. Martha Hardcastle Guthrie 17:31, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
