Marlena di Marco is the drag alter ego of Sisto Sandoval-García

For Cinco de Mayo 2002, Mayor of Denver, Wellington E. Webb invited Marlena to ride in the parade and represent the Gay and Lesbian Latino Alliance as Miss Gay Latino 2002. She was also interviewed by Gary Nietto from Channel WB2 and became the first Miss Gay Latino to be televised on live air.

Marlena was also featured in the Rocky Mountain News/Post in July 2002 as the first Miss Gay Latino Colorado to be published in that periodical.

Also, Marlena di Marco won the grand prize at Miss Gay Colorado 2003, the announcement for the pageant where she crowned her successor, Darlene Maddox, was featured in the OutFront Colorado.
