From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Concerns have been raised about the insertion of non-mainstream theories into a wide array of articles by Roylee. The edits have concerned, in part, Mende people in the Americas (before the Transatlantic slave trade), shipbuilding in the Sahara, a relation between the Mende of Sierra Leone and the Mende language of Papua New Guinea, a Phoenician origin for the Latin language, a possible African origin of the Olmec culture, etc. The edits often constitute self-referential original research, and an Afro-centric bias seems to underlie many of them. While some contributions are uncontroversial, editors are encouraged to examine edits by this user carefully.

[edit] Examples
[edit] Olmec
Roylee seems to have trouble to understand the No original research policy. A few exemplary edits:
- Three edit-diff of 17 May additions to Olmec. Two other editors asked for clarification on his talk page ([2], [3]). Quote:
- The questions facing researchers now are: If Meso- and South American Amerindians evolved in isolation from the remainder of the world, why are we still so similar ... genotypically and phenotypically? Obviously our similiarities stem from a common ancestor. But then how could the Olmec have reached Central and South America?
Roylee has been pointed to the relevant policies quite a few times:
- Kosebamse welcomes Roylee and points him to the No Original research policy [4]
- Kosebamse explains once again that Roylee's work constitutes original research and points out what Wikipedia is not [5].
- Mark Dingemanse kindly asks clarification for a number of edits and points to the WP:NOR and WP:CITE policies [6]
- But one of the anon IP's used by Roylee swiftly comes along and wipes the page clean [7]
[edit] Shipbuilding
Roylee has added his claims about shipbuilding in the ancient Sahara to the articles Sahara and West Africa. I have deleted them. There may be others. Paul B 22:22, 20 May, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Pyramid of Giza, Crane, Engine, and Electricity
The user formerly known as Roylee never logs in anymore, but continues to edit as 4.241.xxx.xxx
User continues to promote fringe theories and original research, using selective evidence and citing his own previous edits as sources. A good example is in Great Pyramid of Giza where he wrote that because of the difficulty of building the pyramid, "some purport that ancient Egyptians must have had knowledge of cranes, engines and electricity." In his edit summary, he listed Crane (machine), Engines, Electricity & Moscow Papyrus as sources. Going to each of those articles, we find the only relevant bits are those that 4.241.xxx.xxx himself added, three of them referring back to "Great Pyramid of Giza."
Good luck trying to track down his edits, as the IP number changes every time he connects. Opie 28 June 2005 05:52 (UTC)
- I've removed the self-referential fringe BS. Diffs of his additions (a good example of his way of working):
[edit] Progress of true science
