She is a musicologist from Lisbon (Portugal) who had previously majored in musical composition, having studied under Constança Capdeville, Jorge Peixinho, and Rui Vieira Nery among others.

Currently she performs/composes in and out of Portugal.

Due to various circumstances Maria Sande Freire is also a bi-lingual interpreter/translator and has been one for many years. Maria Sande Freire is an alias used to protect her identity.
