Any physical theory has at its core a mathematical model (given by a mathematical theory in the sense of Bourbaki-Edwards, and including always set theory), together with an initial domain in reality and a mapping scheme, which translates from (or ultimately: between) the physical theory's initial domain and its mathematical model. This is formally represented by a triple:
