I created this page because I felt that the portion of MD 355 beyond Washington DC and Wisconsin Ave was signifigant enough to merit inclusion on its own. Jay 14:47, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

I have no problem with it, I can't really remember why I created the redirect in the first place. My only guess is that it was to serve as a placeholder redirect that should be later replaced with an article, and now it has.-Jeff (talk) 20:11, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Most Commercial Road

I have heard that Rockville Pike was ranked as one of the most commerically active roads in the country, bringing in the most revenue of any other road in the US amongst the many businesses located on it. Can anyone verify this? 151.200.22.73 07:18, 30 December 2006 (UTC)Ben

[edit] MD 355 no longer starts at US 15

About a year ago, the MD-355 N connection to US-15 (via Worman's Mill Rd. past the MD-26 intersection) was closed. In its place, a ramp was constructed that connected MD-26 W with US-15 N (there was already a ramp from MD-26 W to US-15 S). It is trivial to go from the road's new northern terminus (indicated by signage to be the intersection with MD-26) to US-15, with which it previously intersected, but the road itself no longer extends to US-15 N (though the Worman's Mill Rd. stretch still exists, it just does not connect with US-15). Though both roads run through Frederick, they do not at any point connect directly (with the aforementioned connection across MD-26 being the shortest link between the roads). I have changed the article to reflect this change; I know this because I live about a mile from the roads in question and use them all the time. However, a quick perusal of the State Highway Administration website yielded no useful affirmation of this change.—Kbolino 06:50, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

About a mile south of the MD-26 intersection, it is possible to take W 14th St. to Motter Ave./Opposumtown Pk. to US-15, which may in fact be a shorter connection between the two roads (but the two are very similar in actual driving distance between MD-355 and US-15, relative to the direction travelled)—Kbolino 07:06, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
No, if this change was recent, the HLR won't be updated right away. So I guess there's nothing that can be done right now, unless someone can find another way to verify this.-Jeff (talk) 11:45, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Merge?

Shouldn't this be merged with Wisconsin Avenue (Washington, D.C.), which discusses the same road (although more of it, since it includes the part in DC as well)? john k (talk) 02:45, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

I disagree, as MD 355 encompasses names beyond just Wisconsin Avenue -- Rockville Pike, Frederick Road, Hungerford Drive, etc. --Bossi (talkgallerycontrib) 02:46, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
The Wisconsin Avenue article, however, talks about the whole length of the road. Furthermore, Rockville Pike, at least, redirects to the article on Wisconsin Avenue, not here. Perhaps there should be two separate articles, but their coverage shouldn't overlap like this. john k (talk) 17:45, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
It's worth noting that, obviously, the part of Wisconsin Avenue in D.C. is not Maryland Route 355, just as the parts of Maryland Route 355 beyond Bethesda aren't called Wisconsin Avenue. But, nonetheless, it is all one road, and it makes sense to discuss the whole length from Georgetown to Frederick in one place, whatever the name issues. john k (talk) 17:47, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
