[edit] Capella's Model of the Solar System
The model of the solar system Capella describes in De Nuptiis Philologiae et Mercurii et de septem Artibus liberalibus libri novem is not heliocentric. It is a geocentric model in which the epicycles of Mercury and Venus are centred on the sun, rather than points lying between the sun and the earth, as in the ptolemaic model. I can affirm this from having actually read Stahl, Johnson and Burge's English translation of the work. Any source which says otherwise is mistaken, so please do not miscorrect "geocentric model" back to the erroneous "heliocentric model". David Wilson 07:01, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
