Talk:Marquesan language
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Write Fatu Iva not "Fatu Hiva" (sic)
if r doesnt not exist in Marquesan (statement with wich I agree, exept in loan words, why put it in the consonant list ?
The old dictionnary for marquesan language is from Monseigneur (bishop) DORDILLON not "Dorillon"
[edit] Paucity?
The article states:
- ...the phonology of Marquesan languages is characterized by a paucity of consonants and a comparative abundance of vowels.
Although paucity and abundance are subjective terms, the abundance (or lack of) of consonants and vowels doesn't seem to be all that significant to me. Is there a better way to word this or is this simply a misstatement that should be removed? AEuSoes1 19:18, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
