Talk:Mark of the Beast

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This should be merged with Number of the Beast (numerology) --Delirium 20:11 22 Jul 2003 (UTC)

Should NOT be merged with Number of the Beast (666) because the number (666) is different then the "Mark" (Greek, Caragma = Money). [1]

The Greek word mistranslated as Mark is MONEY the correct, in context translation is: "No one buys or sells without the MONEY of the beast on/in mind or hand."

This article is a mess, having been gutted and replaced with completely NPOV info. It's one thing to state that some people think such a thing, and another to just have it look like this is the absolute facts as said by Wikipedia. I think someone should go through the history, put the article back together in an NPOV format, and then it should be left alone or protected, if necessary. Pulsemeat 7 July 2005 04:12 (UTC)

[edit] Nero

As God hasn't dropped out of the sky and affirmed that 666 = Nero. The explaination seems more dogmatic than it should that 666=Nero.

[edit] Plagarism

"The 'Revelation' was originally a revolutionary Jewish book, which was plagarized"

Wow, this is one of the most non-neutral comments I've ever seen in Wikipedia.

The "Revelation" was originally a revolutionary Jewish book, which was plagarized by Christians who added stuff about Jesus at the beginning and end. (Parables of War: Reading John's Jewish Apocalypse, John W. Marshall, Studies in Christianity and Judaism/Études sur le christianisme et le judaïsm . Waterloo, Ont.: Wilfrid Laurier University Press, 2001.)

The citation is also in the wrong format.

[edit] Translation

"... no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or name of the beast, or the number of his name."

There is no citation for the source translation of this verse.
