Original author: Please cite source for closure of MTV and PHV in 2016. Most sources i've seen reference 2010, but even that is regarded "tentative Pentagon planning", and the city government has no notice of closure at all. Kato2k6 10:13, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

To be exact, me living in this concern and all, there is no percise date of closure for the Heidelberg posts, everything as of now is rumors. Tazz 07:35, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

I've just added the 'references' tag to the article, because it gives none.

I was tempted to do something about the paragraph beginning 'Part of MTV's housing', but I don't know where to find the right answers. Among the things that concern me are:

  • 'back to the German economy' seems a very odd way of saying it: was a lease terminated, or was it sold or what?
  • 'saved $1800000' - per year? over the life of the base? in total? (and what does 'in the long term' mean here?)
  • 'it made sense to shut that area down' - that is original research and doesn't belong in WP. I could edit it, but it doesn't seem worth fixing just one thing. --ColinFine 20:56, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
Well the way it was written was probly from someone else that live in the area as many in the community call the main country "the economy". Which, yes, sounds very strange to someone who is external. I do think "returned to the host nation" would maybe be a better. But then again, none, to my knowledge of any part of this base has been shut down, everything is rumors about shutting down of the Heidelberg Garrison, the only thing that is confirmed is that it will sometime shut down as part of downsizing in Germany and of European Command.
