[edit] Trying to "Prove" Racism

While the facts of the following statement may be true:

According to the Social Contract Press, a Southern Poverty Law Center designated hate group, Mark Krikorian moderated a debate in which he asked in the beginning of it, "[S]ince Jews can engage in ‘identity politics’ to advance Jewish interests can’t white, Christian Americans also engage in ‘identity politics’ to advance their group interests?" [3]

Why does it matter that the source is a "Southern Poverty Law Center designated hate group"? We would not say that, "According to the New York Times, a Fox News designated liberal media, the sun rose this morning."

If anything, the fact that the cited source is a hate group discredits the source and therefore the fact should be cited from a reputable source. Further, not everyone accepts the right of the SPLC to designate hate groups. Third, the quote simply seems to be a bit of rhetoric, very much inflamed by the introduction of the sentence.

Really the last three paragraphs seem to be almost random "facts" meant to characterize Krikorian as a racist.

I put "facts" in quotes because, for instance, "invading" is in quotes in the second to last paragraph, but the word never actually appears in the article cited (although "invasion" does appear in the title, but not the article, followed by a question mark) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.42.23.2 (talk) 06:25, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
