Talk:Mark Henry
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Someone needs to upload a more recent photo of Henry.
- But it will need to be properly sourced, or it will be deleted almost immediately. - Chadbryant 04:19, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
Every single time I go on RC patrol, some anon is screwing with this page. I'm s-protecting it for now. --Jeffrey O. Gustafson - Shazaam! - <*> 06:52, 5 March 2006 (UTC)
It's some "real 'rasslin"-loving (Personal attack removed) that are jealous of the fact that Mark Henry has gotten further in life (Personal attack removed)! -- Matt
He also is a former 1992 Olympian and >>>winner of the World's Strongest Man competiton<<.???No hes not
- qualified for the 1992 Barcelona Olympics Weightlifting Competition, where he finished tenth in the superheavyweight class.
- February 23, 2002, he won the Arnold Classic "World's Strongest Man" competition in Columbus, Ohio, claiming a $75,000 Humvee as his prize.

- He did in fact win the Arnold Classic Strongman contest in 2002 - see http://www.arnoldsstrongestman.com/2002%20Results.htm for the results. However, this should not be confused with the World's Strongest Man, which is a different strongman contest (this is the one broadcast annually on ESPN). Henry has never competed in the World's Strongest Man contest. He did defeat the reigning (2001) World's Strongest Man (Svend Karlsen) at the Arnold Classic, however. [edit] World's strongest Splash
Henrys splash is offically known as the world strongest splash according to WWE.com. Please do not remove this. Also, i was thinking about removing Death from above since I dont remember him doing it..
- it isnt offically called that... and if you dont remeber him doing the death from above thing then i dont think you r gonna have much swing on the naming of his moves --- Paulley
He has done the death from above, and his splash is called the worlds strongest splash!Giovi35 20:19, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
His WWE.com Profile says that his move is the World's Strongest Slam. I don't know about his Vertical Splash, but I know that his finishing move, the Front Powerslam, is called the World's Strongest Slam. [[1]]
[edit] Why is he being pushed?
I don't like how a man who even in his heyday couldn't capture a major championship, is brought back and is instantly in contention for the World Heavyweight Title. Does anyone know why WWE has been pushing Henry recently? User:Slapslapslap
- Because they signed him to a massive deal in '96, a stupidly big one, and they want to squeeze as much value out of him in his last few years.(Halbared 09:37, 14 June 2006 (UTC))
-
- Because he has improved and shown a passion for the sport... I actually like Henry and I'm glad he has taken it upon himself to greatly inprove his in-ring abbility and mic-skills to become more that the average hoss... I think everybody should get off his back and focus their hate towards the "Great" (cough!) Kali —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Paulley (talk • contribs) 10:21, 5 June 2006.
Well if ya call injuring people in kayfabe "passion"... as for me I dont see any sort of improvement in his wrestling ability and to be honest he kind of annoys me. But that's just my opinion. Slapslapslap 03:35, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
- I agree. Vince has wasted a lot of money over the years, Henry belongs in that catergory in my opinion. I used to like him hoping he would improve, I was disappointed.(Halbared 09:02, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
- Well that's kayfabe; if Mr. McMahon says you gotta make it look like you injure ppl to make your money then you should be just glad he doesnt want you to where a dress. --- Paulley 09:30, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
Hey! I like crossdressing Vito! lol jk. yea i guess you have a point there... Slapslapslap 21:47, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
I can't wait for him to leave WWE. Slapslapslap 17:57, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
The injury he caused to Batista was legit. Add in the fact that gets exhausted just walking to the ring and doesn't help add anything and you have to wonder why they extended his contract. Let's stop now since talk pages are for discussion of the article and not the subject of the article. TJ Spyke 22:10, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
I know that injury was legit (it was ALL over the net) but they turned it into an angle. Ok now im gonna stop talking bout this starting now. Slapslapslap 21:27, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
Well if you ask me-- Henry is a good wrestler for his size, and to be honest I don't think that Batista is any bit better than him as a wrestler. Batista is just marginly better than John Cena-- so boy! (Fr3nZi3 07:02, 16 July 2006 (UTC))
LOOK AT MARK HENRY'S SIGNATURE MOVES! Count them. There's five. Doesn't that remind you of "Five Moves of Doom?" Batista has much more of a moveset than Henry and John Cena has 6 moves. I guess Mark Henry's just marginly worse than John Cena. Slapslapslap 18:46, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
-
- lol, Batista only has 5 moves really... unless you count the thumbs up thumbs down thing... which is better than Kahli as he only has 2 --- Paulley
[edit] Injured
Mark Henry's injured for 4-6 months. Batista got his revenge. This is proof that God loves me. lol. Slapslapslap 06:09, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
Well that menas death to Smackdown! One of the biggest matches for the PPV gone! (Fr3nZi3 06:59, 16 July 2006 (UTC))
Smackdown! already died after the death of Eddie Guerrero (may he rest in peace.) The fact that Smackdown! is now left with only one main eventer (Batista) is the final nail in it's coffin. Because of that they're forced to make last minute main eventers such as Booker T, Rey Mysterio, Mark Henry, and they'll probably make Great Kahli another last minute main eventer. Slapslapslap 01:34, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
- Batista and Kahli suck ass.... Henry and Booker are good... any way these discussions have got to stop this isnt a forum --- Paulley
Well, seeing as this conversation needs to stop and Henry's out for eight months I'm gonna leave him alone. If he comes back and improves his in-ring ability then I'll give him props. Slapslapslap 04:53, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
One last comment. Booker T should have been a main eventer ages ago. Mr. C.C. 00:54, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
Yeah but he really needs to lose the evil king gimmik.
Yeah his gimmick sucks.
Hey, Why doesn't this article have anything about Undertaker's Druids carrying him away last friday?-Posted by Taker's Druids —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.47.87.230 (talk) 17:56, 30 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Accomplishments
I was thinking that it might be a good idea to list how much weight he can lift with different things. I don't know if Wikipedia does that with other "Strongmen" or not but if it does then I think you should list it for Henry too. How much he can benchpress, deadlift, you know. Offhand I don't know how much weight he can lift though.
The first site that comes up on Google says something like "Mark Henry The Strongest Man That Ever Lived" and it lists how much weight he has lifted. I don't know how accurate and reliable that is though.
Good idea. Also should be mentioned, that he hold the world record for supertotal (olympic + powerlifting). Also he once held wolrd record in squatting, wich i believe if worth mentioning.
- Well if you have some sources it should be ok ----Paulley
[edit] Protection
There are MAJOR edits to do to this article, so please get the protection off so we can add Mark Henry's return. Talon Kelson 16:54, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
- I have unprotected this article (I wasn't aware of the above request, I just came to the page and noticed it hadn't been updated). The article will remain semi-protected as it is a constant target, for some damned reason. If the article needs re-full-protection, feel free to let me know. --Jeffrey O. Gustafson - Shazaam! - <*> 22:50, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Nicknames
Dunno how to add it, but "The King of the Jungle" I think should be added. The commentators, Batista and Vinve McMahon have all called him that recently. Tywddle 22:28, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Style
A lot of this is not really appropriate style, e.g. "He attacked The Undertaker and when we say attacked, we mean just ran into him a few times then jumped on him with his big fat frame." - 84.176.131.144 22:48, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Weight
Mark Henry's weight is announced on Smackdown! as 390 lbs not 380. Can someone please change it? Lee 21:47, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Name
His middle name is not gordon, it's Jerrold —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.28.224.95 (talk) 02:44, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Trivia
Shouldn't someone put in a trivia section whit the fact that he has never won a championship in the WWE. Now he has held the WWE European Championship but he didn't win it. Jeff Jarrett gave the championship to him after winning both then European Championship and Intercontinental Championship. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.141.145.206 (talk) 16:18, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Middle name, height, weight
As someone mentioned above, Mark Henry's middle name is Jerrold and not Gordon. His official website, MarkHenry.tv, even says that his middle name is Jerrold. Also, MarkHenry.tv says that he is 6'4" and not 6'1". I know that we're going by WWE.com, but in my personal opinion, he appears to be taller than 6'1". And as for his weight, they announce him at a higher weight seemingly every week. Last I heard, he was up to 410 pounds. I won't mess with his size, but I did change his middle name to Jerrold. —Preceding unsigned comment added by DarkSword (talk • contribs) 00:45, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
