[edit] Neutrality and edits

I've noted that Gregorydavid edited this for neutrality and references. Most of his edits are good and he did some good work making it more neutral. I'm adjusting it slightly. If there is a problem with my adjustments, please say so and we can try to work it out. Thank you. Fanra 11:04, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

  • Just to mention, "The cruel and unnatural treatment of girls" is not an "alleged cruel and unnatural treatment" once someone is convicted of it. The word alleged is no longer used to describe an action once someone is convicted of it, even if they still claim they are innocent. If we can find a statement from Docherty where she claims there was no such treatment, or even one from someone else saying so, we can add that in. But all I can find is the Bishop claiming that cruel treatment isn't part of any official policy and I quoted him saying that, just to be fair. Fanra 11:21, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Conviction and compensation

Hi, I am sure Docherty must have been guilty of some abuse, but it seems that in the case of the witness quoted it took place so long ago that Docherty was not charged on that count, and that others were implicated in that abuse. She must have been charged for the most recent counts. It appears however that the witness quoted in the article, as well as others are to receive some compensation from the state even though those specific matters were not put to trial. Maybe the article should be expanded to deal with the issue of abuse, justice and compensation relating to the Nazareth House Homes and the other homes, which have not been named in the article. Are the other perpatrators going to remain nameless on Wikipedia?Gregorydavid 12:39, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

  • I'm glad you put in "she did not specifically name Docherty" because I didn't put that in when I should have, it was wrong of me not to mention that. As for the rest, there might be a place for an article, but this one is about Docherty only. You are more than welcome to make an article about Nazareth House Homes and other stuff. But we can only put into this one stuff related to Docherty. I would have put more into this one about Docherty if I had found it but all I found was what is cited. If you find out more, please feel free to add it to the article or make some new articles. Thank you. Fanra 20:00, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
