[edit] Issues with Religion section
Regarding the religion section, I have a dispute with the claim that "the dominant religion in Marianna is Southern Baptist." I don't necessarily have any issue with the substance of the claim, but the presentation is somewhat misleading. First, there is no such thing as a "five mile area"; I assume the author meant a five mile radius or a five square mile area. Second, while there are a large number of Baptist churches in the area (the article states "there are over 50 Baptist churches"), the website for the Southern Baptist Conference lists only 11 churches in Marianna, FL in affiliation with the SBC. (data as of July 15) While Marianna is dominantly Christian protestant in affiliation, this is in keeping with much of the Florida Panhandle and the "deep south". The statement is marginally informative, though lacking in rigor.
The snippet about St. Luke's Episcopal church says nothing to justify its inclusion in the "Religion" section; my recollection of the history gives very little religious significance to this event. (Update: this has been moved to an attractions section.)
Overall, I find the section lacking in both relevance and references, and I suggest its deletion. I will give the other authors of the Marianna, FL page an opportunity to object to this in this discussion forum; barring some objection, I will remove the "Religion" section in the coming weeks.--Cgb8176 19:47, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
Update: A new tidbit states that there is a significant Mormon population. Without citing a reference or the significance of the population, I am effecting the change described above: the removal of this section.Cgb8176 03:29, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
