I have edited to sharpen the story of her engagements (but the German and English negotiations are still omitted) and to explain more exactly 'born in the purple'. Also, although Maria and Renier must in some sense have wanted to 'seize power', I don't think it's known that they wanted to 'seize the throne'. Yes - the Garland & Stone article (in external links) suggests she wanted the regency. Silverwhistle 20:15, 11 April 2006 (UTC)
