Talk:Margaret Simpson
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Slow down, there, my friend. I appreciate your zeal, but what about Saint Margaret, Edgar Atheling's sister?
Please consider carefully whether a popular name like "Margaret" should be redirected to our beloved Simpsons cartoon show, or not. --Ed Poor
I'm sorry. I thought I would have seen something at Margaret about another meaning. Now that you have told me, I'll fix it right away. --Ellmist Friday, July 26th, 2002.
There is no reason to create pages like "Margaret" or "Simpson" that aren't articles. If, perhaps, you want to write an article about the history of the name itself, maybe. But otherwise such a stub serves no purpose, and encourages sloppy naming and linking. As a list, its purpose is much better served by the search function.
Redirects and pointer pages are fine for when an article exists under a name that has proven to be unworkable because it doesn't fit our conventions or because it's ambiguous. But that doesn't mean we should go out of our way to deliberately create badly-named articles pointing to good ones. --LDC
