[edit] Whence the name?
Seems logical to have some mention of where the name Marfa comes from.Tmangray 01:19, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Marfa lights
Can the following quote from the article be re-worded?
"Investigations both on foot and by aircraft have failed to discover the source of the lights, and although theoretical explanations abound, they remain a mystery."
Investigations? Uh, okay. Is that weasel wording? Read about this scientific experiment done in 2004 by Physics students from UT Dallas.

In short, they installed a traffic recorder so they knew how many cars drove on highway 67, which is visible from the viewing area. Students camped out in a vehicle parked on highway 67 for the purpose of reporting (by way of radio to the students at the viewing area) everytime a car passed, so those at the viewing area knew WHEN each car was going by. Students in the viewing area saw the "mysterious" lights at the same time the parked vehicle reported being passed by a car. Over the course of a few days they were able to account for the origin of every single Marfa light that they saw from the viewing area. They were all headlights.
Really, the Marfa lights are no "mystery." The article should at the very least reflect that experiments have been done that offer some explanation.
edit - I just realized there is an article on the Marfa Lights that describes and cites the experiment. So that is even more reason to change this weasly crap. It's simply not true that no investigations have given an explanation as to what the Marfa Lights are. NOT TRUE
I want someone to change this! I can't do it because I don't know how to make words into links or citings (e.g. An experiment(1) showed blah blah blah suggesting that the Marfa lights are blah blah blah," with '(1)' being a clickable link to the experiment)
It has been a few weeks since I originally posted here and no one has responded so IN THE MEANTIME I AM DELETING THAT WEASLY PART and if someone has a problem with it then they can properly cite the source (the experiment) or change it back to the deceptive lies.
