Talk:Marché d'Intérêt National de Rungis
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hello, re your article on Rungis, Whereas wikipedia says that ‘The complex covers 232-hectares (573 acres). Every day, 13,000 workers negotiate 1,690,000 tonnes of products brought in by 26.000 trucks; the largest turnover of wholesale markets in the world.’ At the official Rungis Market website.. http://www.rungisinternational.com/pages/fr/presentation/mar_chif.asp they only state that ‘1.569.000 tonnes de produits alimentaires à l'arrivage en 2004, 36,8 millions de bottes de fleurs coupées et 19,8 millions d'unités de plantes en pots.’ But, if you do the maths (as the say in USA).. 26,000 trucks bringing in 1,690,000 tonnes of products means each truck averages 65 tonnes.. big trucks. But more obviously, if we assume the market serves 12 million people (‘18 millions de consommateurs européens desservis dont 12 millions dans un rayon de 150 kms autour de Paris, soit un français sur cinq.’ http://www.rungisinternational.com/pages/fr/presentation/mar_chif.asp) that is 0.14 tonnes per person average per day.. i dont think so.
Hello I corrected the figures using the ones on their website. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.190.182.137 (talk) 12:35, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
