I don't understand whether the eggshell is oil-based or latex. Wouldn't latex be dry if you left it overnight? -Anon 17th Dec

Sorry i didn't notice your comment until now. Egg shell is midsheen oil based paint. You can't mix latex piant with linseed oil. theresa knott

Propose moving this article to Faux painting as a specialist art / profession that includes faux marble - and granite, limestone, woodgrain, etc. &tc. —Dogears (talk  contribs) 01:27, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

I agree that there should be a change in article name. "marbling" is part of a broader form. Not sure if Faux painting is the ideal article name. There are several aspects of faux decorative arts that are done using other actions than "painting". Sometimes sponges, mops and metal or rubber combs are used to create or add to the effects. How about one of these:

Faux finishing
Faux decorating
Faux-finish decorating

[edit] Who is Kershaw?

Somehow Kershaw comes into being in the 2nd paragraph. He should probably be properly introduced first. --Yurik 03:57, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

The text of the article talks almost exclusively about faux marble, but faux finishing encompasses many more techniques than just marbling. --Fabrictramp 23:43, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
