[edit] Route description
For its entire route, Maryland 316 is called Appleton Road. Appleton Road crosses into Maryland from Pennsylvania and continues mainly southward across Interstate 95, and ends when it meets Maryland 279. Although most web sites and the Maryland State Highway Administration (MSHA) Highway Locator Reference map suggest that state maintenance ends at Maryland 277, the MSHA traffic volume map (2004) highlights it as it does state highways up to Maryland 273.
