Maryland Route 282 is a state highway that crosses southern Cecil County, Maryland from Crystal Beach to the Delaware state line, where it continues as Delaware Route 299.

[edit] Route description

From the Delaware border, Maryland 282 follows Main Street southwest through Warwick and then turns west to follow Cecilton Warwick Road to Cecilton. In Cecilton, the highway is called Main Street again (East or West Main Street, depending on location relative to Maryland 213, which runs through town. West of Cecilton, Maryland 282 is called Crystal Beach Road.

[edit] History

  • The Crystal Beach Road section of Maryland 282 beyond the fork with Grove Neck Road used to be Maryland Route 283; the old Maryland 282 used to follow Grove Neck Road, but that stretch is no longer under state maintenance.
  • In John Town, north of Earleville, Old Crystal Beach Road makes a wider turn towards the west than the current Maryland 282.
  • In Warwick, Main Street used to be an extension of Maryland 299. Now that Maryland 299 shares the road with U.S. Route 301 as it approaches and crosses the Delaware line, Maryland 282 has been extended onto Main Street.
