[edit] Route description
[edit] Tuxedo Interchange
MD 201 begins at the Tuxedo Interchange, a large hybrid cloverleaf just outside the D.C. boundary that is maintained by the Maryland State Highway Administration. Two routes converge at the northern and western ends of the interchange: US 50, which follows the first 0.2 miles of the Baltimore-Washington Parkway from the DC line, and the B-W Parkway itself, which splits in the northern quadrant of the interchange into two connectors; one connector leads to and from US 50, while the other connects to MD 201. Within the interchange, the B-W Parkway proper splits from US 50, which interchanges with MD 201 before continuing east as the John Hanson Highway. MD 201, after interchanging with US 50, itself splits from the Kenilworth Avenue Freeway, and the remaining segment of this freeway merges with the B-W Parkway at a wye junction within the interchange.
[edit] Kenilworth Avenue
From the Tuxedo Interchange, MD 201 continues along Kenilworth Avenue and later Edmonston Avenue, surface streets, and travels north across the Capital Beltway to end at MD 212 in Beltsville (although Edmonston Avenue continues northward into the Muirkirk and South Laurel area).
The route travels through the western edge of Greenbelt Park and meets MD 193 Greenbelt Road at a grade-separated interchange in the northwestern corner of the park. The route also travels close to College Park Airport.
