[edit] Route description
MD 170 begins at the intersection of MD 175 Annapolis Road and Piney Orchard Parkway, in Odenton. It runs north towards Severn, interchanging with MD 32 northwest of the town. Continuing north, the route, now known as Telegraph Road, enters Severn and intersects MD 174, before interchanging with MD 100 at a SPUI.
Just beyond MD 100, MD 170 intersects MD 176, and joins the western segment of the Airport Loop. Concurrent with the loop, the route runs around the western edge of BWI Airport, intersecting the unmarked MD 995 near the Amtrak main line. Just beyond MD 995, the route interchanges with I-195, before entering the airport proper.
Now a four- and six-lane arterial highway, MD 170 runs through the various large parking lots and cargo lots found in the northwestern sector of the airport. Near the airport's northern edge, the route intersects MD 162. MD 170 turns north, away from the Airport Loop, at MD 162's northern terminus, with the latter taking up the Airport Loop designation, and the former becoming known as Camp Meade Road.
Continuing away from BWI, MD 170 runs through Linthicum, intersecting MD 762 and MD 169, both small neighborhood streets, before interchanging with I-695, the Baltimore Beltway, north of the town. Beyond I-695, MD 170 intersects the former route of MD 2, MD 648, in Pumphrey. Continuing north, the route, now a neighborhood street, passes through Brooklyn Park, crossing I-895 with no access, and terminates at MD 2 just south of the Baltimore City line.
