[edit] Character history

Mary Mae Ward ran an orphanage at the Ward house. Laura Spencer bought the Ward house and the two became friends. Her son Bradley Ward II was found murdered in Luke & Laura's yard. Her grandchildren Justus Ward and Keesha Ward came to town for the funeral. Keesha Ward began to date Jason Quartermaine. Edward Quartermaine and Mary Mae Ward did not approve of their relationship. Edward Quartermaine was accused of killing Bradley Ward. While on the stand Mary Mae admitted that Edward Quartermaine was Bradley's father. They had an affair while Edward was married to Lila Quartermaine. Edward was acquitted of the murder charges.

Mary Mae was a blues singer during the war, where she met Edward. She began to sing again for L&B Records. She sang at Luke's club where many people showed up to listen to her sing.
