Mary Fitzpatrick is a Fianna Fáil member of Dublin City Council representing the Cabra-Glasnevin electoral area.
Fitzpatrick was co-opted to the Council in 2003 to replace her father, Dr Dermot Fitzpatrick TD, who was forced to relinquish the seat after the Local Government Act 2001 forbid sitting Teachtaí Dála and Senators from holding local authority seats whilt members of the Oireachtas. She was re-elected at the 2004 local elections, polling over 10% of the vote.
In the 2007 general election, she was a Fianna Fáil candidate in the Dublin Central constituency replacing her father on the ballot paper following his retirement. She polled 1725 votes, almost double the number received by her party running mate Senator Cyprian Brady. However Brady received a much larger number of transfers from the surplus of the leading Fianna Fáil candidate in the constituency, Taoiseach Bertie Ahern, leaving Fitzpatrick to be eliminated and it was her votes transferring in large numbers to Brady which ensured Fianna Fáil retained their second seat in the constituency.
