All Marvin Gaye singles until 1981 were released on Motown's Tamla label except for the following, which were released on Motown: the singles with Mary Wells: "Once Upon a Time" and "What's the Matter With You Baby"; his singles with Diana Ross: "You're a Special Part of Me", "Stop, Look, Listen (To Your Heart)", "My Mistake (Was to Love You)", "You Are Everything" and "Don't Knock My Love" and his duet with Ross, Stevie Wonder & Smokey Robinson in "Pops, We Love You".
- There was no Billboard R&B Singles Chart from November 1963 to January 1965. When the chart was reinstated on January 30, 1965, Gaye's "I'll Be Doggone" was the second #1 single on the new chart. The following R&B chart listings came from Cashbox, who applied the Cashbox R&B chart numbers for those singles before Billboard reinstated the chart.
- 1 Single went gold as a digital single.
- 2 The song charted at number six on Billboard's Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart in 1979.
