Marutha of Martyropolis

Marutha of Martyropolis was the bishop of the city of Maipherqat for a period beganing before 399 and still in office in 410. He was sent as an ambassador by the East Roman Emperor Arcadius to the Persian Emperor Yazdegerd I. He also served as ambassador after Theodosius II became the East Roman Emperor.

Marutha managed to negotiate a peace between the two empires.
