Martin Windrow

Martin C. Windrow (1944- ) is a British historian, editor and author of several hundred[1] books, articles and monographs, particularly those on organisational or physical details of military history, and the history of the post-war French Foreign Legion[2][3]. His most notable work is The last valley, an account of the Battle of Dien Bien Phu during the First Indochina War, which was published in 2004 to "critical acclaim"[4].

Windrow is a graduate of Wellington College, and began working on commission as an editor of articles on military and aviation history in the 1970s. He is a member of the Royal Historical Society and the Foreign Legion Association of Great Britain[5].
