Martin Bergman (producer, writer and director) was born June 17, 1957.
After leaving Cambridge University in 1979, where he was a member of the theatrical troupe Footlights (and about which he later wrote the film Peter's Friends), Bergman produced several live arena shows with his Australian partner Michael Edgley, including the world tour of ice skaters Torvill and Dean. He also produced several comedy shows in Australia, Britain and the USA. He and USA comedian Rita Rudner married in 1988. They have written several films and TV projects together, some of which Bergman has directed. The couple continue to work together and Bergman's company produces his wife's current Las Vegas show. They have a daughter Molly and the three of them divide their time between homes in Las Vegas and Southern California.
