Martial Ballet

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Martial Ballet is a martial art form that is conducted to music, created by Jhoon Rhee. Martial Ballet has gone on to be displayed in many ways by many different people.[citation needed] Many martial arts contests now have a section on competition of forms with music or martial ballet.[citation needed] This is not only a performance, like Martial Arts Demo Teams made famous by Ernie Reyes Sr.,[citation needed] but also serves an educational purpose. In many cases, Martial Ballet is used to teach a form of a martial art in a way that is easily available for the student to learn and use.

Jhoon Rhee's first Martial Ballet is called "Might For Right" and is done to the music of "Exodus." The actual ballet is now performed as an instruction by students studying to be brown belts in the Jhoon Rhee Tae Kwon Do system.

Many martial ballets are done to classical music. Martial ballets have been developed to "Stars and Stripes Forever", "God Bless America" , the Korean National Anthem, "Aegukga," and even to Beethoven's Fifth.
