Marta
Gender: Female

Meaning: Hebrew meaning: "the lady". Roman meaning: dedicated to Mars.

Marta is a Georgian (Georgian: მართა), Italian, Spanish, Polish and Portuguese given name for females, derived from Hebrew (Judæo-Aramaic) name מַרְתָּא Martâ "The lady", but some sources claim that it was in use even before the establishment of Christianity, meaning dedicated to Mars.[1] It had male form "Martinus" in Roman culture. It has been described as a cognate of Martha[2] and as a feminine variation of Martinus.[1]
