Marshall Middle School, founded in 1998, is a middle school in the San Diego City Schools school district that is named after Thurgood Marshall and is in San Diego, California. It is located on 9700 Avenue of Nations in the community of Scripps Ranch in San Diego (ZIP Code 92131).
The school site is rather small, because it was originally intended for an elementary school. Construction of a replacement building on a separate site began in 2004 and was originally scheduled for completion in 2006, but now unexpected delays have caused the school to be a year behind schedule.
The campus is home to 1,105 students from neighboring areas of Scripps Ranch. there are 6 buildings 3 of them are 3 stories high the rest are two stories high. they have a bunch of basketball fields and there making a track field. The new fields are going to be open sometime in November.
Computers and other related items will be up and running by 2008.
The school was awarded the status of California Distinguished School in 2003.
For 2006, the school accountability report card list demographics for the school with 66.2% White, 10% Hispanic, 2.5 Black.[1] An Academic Performance Index for 2006 place the school at 891 where 800 is the California state goal.[2]
