[edit] Sports teams
Marshall uses the fictitious Redhawk as its mascot. The former mascot was the Redskin, but it was changed due to respect for the Anishinaabek Native Americans and their spiritual beliefs. As by the school board's ruling, Marshall High School went a couple of years without a mascot, and then the student body voted in the Spring of 2005 in favor of changing the mascot to the Redhawk. The Redskin/Redhawk debate remains controversial to this day.
Marshall now competes in the Southwest Michigan Athletic Conference East (SMAC East).
Recent highlights of sports teams' performances include
- The 2006 Varsity Women's Cross Country Team qualified for and competed in the State Finals.
