Marshall Altman is a Los Angeles based songwriter/producer who has seen many sides of the music business as an artist, A&R executive, writer and producer. Marshall’s recording career began in 1995 as a member of the band Farmer, whose heartland rock was showcased on their influential self-titled 1997 album for Aware Records.
Marshall’s recent cuts include the emotional “I’m the Man,” which Elliott Yamin (American Idol runner-up 2006) recorded on his Gold debut album for Hickory / Sony BMG; "Masterpiece" for Todd Carey's album Watching Waiting (produced by Marshall); and “All We Are,” which he co-wrote with Matt Nathanson on his Vanguard release “Some Mad Hope” (Marshall also produced and recorded the album). “Cold and Jaded,” the first single from Adema’s album Kill the Headlights on Immortal Records and “Beautiful Wreck,” the first single from Shawn Mullins latest release 9th Ward ‘Pickin Parlor on Vanguard, and Marshall’s 3rd #1 song at AAA radio.
Marshall has also written influential songs recorded by The Thorns “No Blue Sky” on their Aware/Columbia self titled release, Marc Broussard’s “Home”, “Let Me Leave” and “Where You Are” on his debut album Carencro for IDJ (also produced by Marshall). He also co-wrote Kate Voegele’s “Facing Up” and “Might Have Been”, who’s debut album Don’t Look Away on MySpace / Interscope was produced, recorded and mixed by Marshall.
